afa facial peel detail

AFA Skincare Programme

AFA is designed as a combined home care and in-salon programme. Clients typically start on the AFA Mild Gel at home, progressing to the AFA Plus Gel after 4–8 weeks if suitable.

After 6 initial in-salon facials, a monthly top-up treatment is recommended to maintain results. Because AFA is amino-acid based rather than acid-based, it's gentler than a traditional glycolic or lactic peel — while still delivering visible improvement in tone, texture and clarity.

Main benefits

  • Gentler than traditional acid peels

Amino-acid based chemistry exfoliates deeply while remaining well-tolerated across a wide range of skin types.

  • Antioxidant-rich

Helps the skin retain moisture and combats environmental damage — brightens dull, tired complexions.

  • Effective on problem skin

Helps relieve acne, rosacea and pigmentation with continued use, alongside the AFA at-home programme.

  • Structured programme

Home care + in-salon peels build progressive, measurable results — not a one-off treatment.

Where AFA works best

AFA is a face-focused peel that pairs with at-home AFA gel between sessions.

Results timeline

What to expect over time

AFA is a programme rather than a one-off — your therapist will confirm the right cadence for your skin.

  1. Results timeline — confirmed with your practitioner

A day-by-day recovery and results timeline for AFA peels isn't published here yet — your therapist will walk you through what to expect at each stage during consultation, based on your skin and the number of sessions planned. The typical programme is 6 in-salon peels alongside home care, then monthly maintenance.

Is this right for you?

  • Who is this suitable for?

Confirmed during consultation. AFA is designed to be gentle and well-tolerated across many skin types. Real inclusion criteria will be added here once the therapist has signed off — we don't want to publish clinical suitability copy without their input.

  • Who may not be suitable?

Confirmed during consultation. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, using strong active skincare (retinoids, high-strength acids), have active skin infections, or have any relevant medical history, please raise it before booking so we can confirm AFA is right for you.

Pre-treatment & aftercare

  • Before your appointment

Confirmed at your consultation. Detailed pre-treatment guidance is given in-clinic by your therapist. If you're on any medication, using active skincare (retinoids, acids), or have had recent aesthetic treatments, mention it when you book so we can plan accordingly.

  • Aftercare

Given at your appointment. AFA is designed to be low-downtime, but your therapist will give you written aftercare and home-care guidance (AFA Mild Gel or Plus Gel) tailored to your skin.

AFA — exclusive to Eden

AFA was developed by a team of American dermatologists as a gentler, amino-acid-based alternative to traditional acid peels. Eden Beauty Group is the exclusive AFA provider in Ireland — every AFA treatment is delivered by a trained Eden therapist as part of a structured programme rather than a one-off peel.

Frequently asked questions

How is AFA different from a glycolic or lactic peel?

AFA is amino-acid based rather than acid-based, making it gentler on the skin while still delivering exfoliation and antioxidant support. It's especially well-suited to sensitive skin and clients with acne, rosacea or pigmentation.

How often should I have an AFA peel?

The typical programme is 6 in-salon peels alongside AFA home care, followed by monthly top-up treatments. Your therapist will confirm cadence at consultation.

Do I need home care alongside my peels?

Yes — AFA works as a combined programme. Most clients start on the AFA Mild Gel at home and progress to the AFA Plus Gel after 4–8 weeks if suitable.

Is there downtime?

AFA is designed to be low-downtime. Some mild redness or sensitivity for 24 hours is normal — your therapist will give you written aftercare.

Can I combine AFA with other treatments?

Yes — AFA pairs well with microdermabrasion (see the AFA Peel & Eco Peel Microdermabrasion combo above) and with a Casmara facial. Your therapist will recommend the right combination at consultation.
